IVTVision Software

Q. When a new release comes out, how long until the Mac OSX and Linux versions are available?

All versions of IVTVision software are released at the same time. This is due to us having the same code base across all the versions. The code that runs on Windows is the same that runs on the Linux and Max OSX.

Q. What if I have multiple NIC's in my computer?

It is OK if your computer has multiple NIC's. The IVTVision software reads the MAC address for all the NIC's in the computer and checks if the license file matches the MAC address from any NIC.

Q. How can I find my server's MAC address?

In Windows operating systems, go to the Start Menu, Select Run, then type "cmd".

This will open a DOS command window. Type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter. You will see a list. Find the item called "Physical Address".

It will look something like this: 00-11-22-33-44-55. That is the MAC address

Q. How is IVTVision NVR Software licensed?

The IVTVision NVR software licenses a specific number of cameras to a key based upon the server NIC's MAC address. IVTVision does not require the MAC addresses of the individual cameras which are connected. Having multiple NIC cards will not effect the license, as long as one of the NIC cards has the MAC address in the license.

Q. What ports does IVTVision use?

By default, IVTVision Clients communicate to IVTVision Servers over port 22609. The cameras communicate to the IVTVision server on the default port of 80. The ability to change this is dependent on the camera manufacturer. The IVTVision Web Server is set to the default port of 80.

Q. How do I change the port that the IVTVision Server listens on?

If a network will not allow port 22609, or if you need to port forward to multiple IVTVision systems, you may need to change the network port that is used.

To do this see the following instructions.

  • Go directly to the server where the video is recorded.

  • Exit all IVTVision software.
  • Open the Services (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services) and find the IVTVisionServer in the list.
  • Right click on that service and select "Stop".
  • On the server, browse to the following directory: "C:\Program Files\IVTVision\Server"
  • Find the file named "streampi.xml" and open it with a standard text editor (notepad will work).
  • Once you have the file opened find the line that says "Port value=" as seen below

  • Change the value "22609" to the port number that you would like to use (ex. "22610")
  • Save the changes and restart Windows.

Q. How do I change the settings of the User account while logged in as Admin?

While you are logged into the Admin account on our IVTVision Server, you can use the command "Runas". Go to the command prompt and type in the following string:

runas /user:user "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl"

Replace user with the user name of the account. So for the account View it would be:

runas /user:view "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl"

For more information about runas and things you can modify using it, please check out: http://samanathon.com/how-to-launch-control-panel-application-from-the-command-line/

Q. Does the IVTVision Server support automatic CD/DVD burning of video files?

Yes, it does. Using the IVTRecall function in the software will allow you to automatically burn a specified length of video to a CD or DVD. This can easily be connected to the button on the front of the IVTVision server, or tied to a Soft Trigger button in the IVTVision Client.

Q. How do I use Auto Tracking with the Panasonic cameras, and still receive motion detection alarms?

Some of the PTZ cameras available from Panasonic have an Auto Tracking feature. But you must update your firmware to NS202A_ver.2.20PA.img or greater in order to successfully use motion detection and Auto Tracking.

This may be done by contacting Panasonic directly. After you have updated, follow these steps:

  • In IVTVision, add a motion window for the camera.
  • Set a preset for the camera in IVTVision that will be used as a home position.
  • Using the camera's web interface, go to the Cam Function tab in the Camera setup page.
  • Set the Home position to the matching preset that was set up for the home poison in IVTVision. The names may be different but the order of the presets should be the same.
  • Set the Self Return to Home Position and set the Self Return time and the click the Set button.
  • Click the VMD tab under Alarm setup and look for the area that called Preset Position Select .
  • Select the preset designated as the home preset and click the Setup button.
  • Clear any motion detection on the camera by clicking the Delete button in each area and then click the Set button.
  • Draw a motion detection window in the video and click the Set button.
  • In the Alarm tab in the Alarm setup section, look for VMD alarm and select Auto track.
  • Close the web interface.

Q. Why is my IVTVision Server unable to find my AXIS cameras through the Find IP Cameras feature?

We have seen several cases where using a Netgear switch has prevented the AXIS brand cameras from being detected by the IVTVision software. By default, the Netgear switches have IGMP turned off. For more about IGMP, please go here. By logging into the Netgear switch, you can turn it back on.
Here is an example of how to turn it on in the NetGear FS726TP:
  1. Log into your Netgear switch using the web interface.
  2. Go and select the IGMP Snooping Status:

Log in and select IGMP Snooping Status

Change the IGMP Function value from Disabled to Enable.

Select Apply and you should be good to go!

Axis 209MFD cameras should be upgraded to firmware version 4.45.1 available here: http://www.axis.com/ftp/pub_soft/cam_srv/cam_209MFD/service_release/4_45_1/.

Q. Why does my Axis 207 stop recording?

Axis 207 cameras should be upgraded to firmware version 4.40.1 available here: http://www.axis.com/ftp/pub_soft/cam_srv/cam_207/service_release/4_40_1/.

With 4.40 firmware, they stop after 25 days in MPEG4 mode.

Q. Why does my PTZ not work completely on the ACTi ACD2100 camera?

First, you need to make sure that your Analog camera is using Pelco-D protocol, and is set to address 1. Also, in the current released version of the software, there is a bug where the speed is not sent to the camera when using the Pan and Tilt functions. Adjust the speed bar under the Pan and Tilt controls, and it will begin to have full functionality.

IVTVision Web Servers

Q. How do I change the port of my Webserver?

You will need to edit one of the configuration files for the Webserver. This is located on the server where the web service is installed
  • For Windows, edit the file C:\Program Files\IVTVision\WebService\LightTPD\conf\lighttpd-inc.conf.
  • For Linux, edit the file /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf
Look for an entry that reads:

## bind to port (default: 80)
#server.port = 81

Change the number to the port you want, and remove the # at the beginning of the line. Then save the file and restart the web service. You will now be able to connect on the new port. So for port 1111 it would read:

## bind to port (default: 80)
server.port = 1111

Once that is configured, you will need to restart the web server for the change to take affect.
