A two-step approach for preventing false alarms

A street is constantly in motion: birds and animals move around, plants and bushes are warmed by the sun or sway in the wind, and numerous insects fall on the detector's body. Because of the variety of plants and animals present, outdoor motion detectors have a difficult time identifying the true threat, which is human activity. By integrating two PIR sensors and creating the unique two-step signal analysis method LISA, we were able to tackle this issue on both the software and hardware levels.

Correlational research

When MotionProtect Outdoor senses motion, LISA instantly examines and contrasts the data patterns from two different sensors. The alarm is set off if the forms are similar.

Spectral evaluation

LISA examines frequency components in the signals of the two sensors when they both detect motion, but the comparative analysis must find enough similarities to trigger an alarm.

Smart anti-masking system

An outdoor detector is a simple target. When the system is unarmed during the day, intruders may harm the sensors or obstruct its vision to improve their chances of breaking in at night. MotionProtect Outdoor has a tamper button and a cutting-edge anti-masking system that can be active continuously to stop cases of sabotage.

When mounting the device onto SmartBracket, the anti-masking technology in MotionProtect Outdoor calibrates itself automatically by examining the surrounding space. The detector immediately detects tampering and raises the alarm if an impediment occurs in the field of vision of the anti-masking sensors or if they are painted. The moment someone tries to remove the detector from SmartBracket, a sensitive tamper is also activated.

Absolute communication stability

To guarantee the uninterrupted operation of all devices inside the security system, we developed the Jeweller radio protocol. At up to 1,700 metres, The Jeweller enables two-way communication between the hub and MotionProtect Outdoor and transmits alarms in less than 0.15 seconds. The radio protocol uses time frames to coordinate the communication of connected devices, authentication to prevent forging, and encryption to prevent data leakage. Additionally, Jeweller saves energy and enables detectors to run for years on batteries that have already been installed.

Prepared for harsh weather

All climate zones, from South Africa to Greenland, are covered by Ajax security systems. MotionProtect Outdoor is prepared to work in every weather, whether it's hot or cold, snowy or rainy. The outdoor detector may operate for up to five years on the supplied batteries. We have also included the option of using external power, which will boost autonomy and make maintenance in difficult circumstances easier.
