Inaxsys recently introduced new functionalities for its hybrid cloud surveillance solution, Arkiv VSaaS Datacenter, to cater to the requirements of prominent corporations. This solution enables seamless integration across diverse distributed locations, offering centralized administration, user control, health monitoring, alarm handling, reporting, and video surveillance accessible through local and remote connections using different client apps. These enhancements to Arkiv VSaaS Datacenter were developed based on client feedback, aiming to provide a cost-efficient and effective solution for sizable enterprises.

 

The design of the solution allows for a combination of legacy and recently installed cameras linked to VMS servers, cameras equipped with an Inaxsys plugin for direct cloud streaming, and cameras connected via Arkiv Bridge appliances. The cloud-based aspect of the solution, which can be hosted in either the customer's data center or a public cloud, offers cloud-based VMS servers, user connectivity and rights management, health monitoring, and reporting capabilities.

 

The on-premises Arkiv Bridge appliances serve as connectors between the cameras and the cloud-based VMS servers, requiring no specialized network configuration. These bridges establish a secure TLS tunnel to transmit video feeds from the cameras, simplifying the maintenance of security in a distributed system.

 

A notable addition from Inaxsys is the support for H.265 stream decoding in their web client, allowing viewing in standard browsers like Google Chrome that support the H.265 format. The decoding process is performed by the GPU, resulting in low CPU utilization and efficient resource utilization.

 

In the context of extensive surveillance systems, robust user rights management is crucial. The Arkiv VSaaS Datacenter solution delivers precisely that capability. Users can be added, grouped, and assigned specific roles (sets of rights) for designated locations, ensuring a flexible and customizable approach to user management and security.

 

Another noteworthy feature is the introduction of dashboards, configurable interfaces for presenting comprehensive analytics data gathered from all locations. For instance, a retail store's dashboard can display reports based on video analytics and data received from an integrated POS system. Reports can be customized to include revenue (derived from POS integration), customer count (determined through video analytics), suspicious cashier actions (e.g., item removals, price changes, discounts, also from POS integration), purchasing customers (ratio of receipts to the total number of customers over time), and more.

 

To ensure system health monitoring, Arkiv VSaaS Datacenter utilizes Prometheus, an open-source monitoring and alerting tool. Prometheus collects operational statistics from both cloud and on-premises VMS servers, and the data is presented using Grafana dashboards. Alerts are configured to promptly notify the system administrator of any failures.
